2. Introduction and purpose of this privacy notice

In the course of my work as a freelance translator of English and Spanish, sworn for the English language, with specialist areas in medicine, linguistic validation and audiovisual translation, I process personal data belonging to my clients, business partners and website visitors.

This data typically includes contact information, correspondence and, where applicable, project-related documents that may contain personal information (e.g. in medical, linguistic or audiovisual contexts).

I process personal data exclusively in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG).

This privacy notice explains how your personal data is processed in connection with the use of my website and my professional translation services.

4. Collection and storage of personal data, and the nature and purpose of its use

a) When visiting this website

When you access my website, your browser automatically transmits information to the server of my hosting provider, Wix.com Ltd. The website is operated on servers that may be located outside the European Union, including in third countries where a level of data protection comparable to that of the EU cannot be guaranteed.

The following data is collected automatically when you visit my website and stored in log files:

  • IP address of the requesting device

  • Date and time of access

  • Name and URL of the file accessed

  • Website from which access was made (referrer URL)

  • Browser used, operating system and name of the access provider

Purposes of processing:

  • Ensuring a stable and secure connection to the website

  • Guaranteeing user-friendly display and functionality

  • Evaluating system security and stability

  • Technical administration

Transfer of data to third countries:
As the website may be hosted outside the EU, it cannot be ruled out that government authorities in the respective third country may access transmitted data (e.g. IP addresses). Such transfers are generally safeguarded through standard contractual clauses in accordance with Art. 46 GDPR; however, the potentially lower level of data protection in the third country cannot be fully compensated for by these means.

The legal basis for this processing is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
My legitimate interest follows from the purposes stated above.

b) Contact by e-mail or telephone

When you contact me by e-mail or telephone, your details will be stored for the purpose of processing your enquiry and any follow-up questions.

Data processing is carried out on the basis of Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures).

c) Processing in the context of my professional activities

In the course of carrying out translation assignments, linguistic validation or audiovisual translation, it may be necessary for me to process personal data transmitted to me by my clients (e.g. contact details, project documents, accompanying texts).

This data is used exclusively for the purpose of carrying out the respective assignment and, upon completion of the project, is securely stored or deleted in accordance with statutory retention periods.
Data is not passed on to third parties unless there is a legal obligation or explicit consent to do so.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract) and/or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the professional handling of assignments).

d) Use of Google Cloud CDN

To ensure the secure, fast and efficient delivery of my website, I use the content delivery network (CDN) Google Cloud CDN, a service provided by Google Cloud EMEA Ltd. The CDN ensures that website content is delivered via geographically distributed servers, thereby improving loading times and increasing connection stability.

As part of this service, it may be technically necessary for certain data to be processed automatically as soon as you access my website. This includes in particular:

  • IP address

  • Date and time of the request

  • Content requested

  • Information about the browser, device and operating system

This data is processed exclusively for the purpose of providing and optimising the website. No personal analysis for marketing or tracking purposes takes place.

Google processes this data as my data processor exclusively within the European Economic Area (EEA) or on the basis of appropriate data protection guarantees. Data is not passed on to third parties unless there is a legal obligation to do so.

The legal basis for this processing is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the technically secure, fast and user-friendly delivery of the website).

e) Use of Sentry

To monitor the technical stability of my website and to detect errors and malfunctions, I use the service Sentry, a product of Sentry Inc. Sentry makes it possible to analyse error messages, identify technical issues and continuously improve the functionality of the website.

As part of this service, it may be technically necessary for certain data to be processed automatically as soon as you access my website or a technical error occurs. This includes in particular:

  • IP address

  • Date and time of the error

  • URL accessed or function affected

  • Information about the browser, device and operating system

  • Technical log data (e.g. error messages, stack traces)

This data is processed exclusively for the purpose of analysing and resolving technical issues. No personal analysis for marketing or tracking purposes takes place.

Sentry may process data on servers outside the European Union (in particular in the USA). Such transfers are generally safeguarded through standard contractual clauses in accordance with Art. 46 GDPR. However, the potentially lower level of data protection in the respective third country cannot in every case be fully compensated for by these means.

The legal basis for this processing is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the technically error-free, stable and secure delivery of the website).

5. Transmission of data to third parties

Your personal data is not transmitted to third parties as a matter of principle, unless:

  • you have given your explicit consent in accordance with Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR,

  • transmission is necessary for the performance of a contract in accordance with Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR,

  • there is a legal obligation in accordance with Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR or

  • transmission serves to protect legitimate interests in accordance with Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR and there is no reason to assume that you have an overriding legitimate interest in your data not being disclosed.

6. Duration of storage

Personal data is stored only for as long as is necessary to fulfil the respective purposes or as required by statutory retention obligations.

Once the purpose no longer applies or statutory retention periods have expired, the data is deleted.

7. Your rights as a data subject

You have the right at any time to:

  • request information about your stored personal data in accordance with Art. 15 GDPR,

  • request the rectification of inaccurate data or the completion of incomplete data in accordance with Art. 16 GDPR,
